Workshop: Community Engagement Through Public Art
Christian Pelletier is a graphic designer by day, community artist by night and disc jockey by accident.
Christian is a passionate, driven, and dedicated community champion. As Partner and Art Director at Studio123, Christian is the resident dreamer and manages many francophone accounts in the cultural sector. Christian is also president, and co-founder of
We Live Up Here, a non-profit urban arts organization formed in 2012 around the idea that art can inspire, transform and help build a better community.
Since 2015, We Live Up Here has produced Up Here, an annual festival that has garnered regional acclaim and international recognition. The urban art and music festival has presented over 400 concerts, curated over 80 news pieces of public art in and around downtown Sudbury, and continuously celebrates the weird and wonderful side of Sudbury.
At Studio123, Christian challenges the creative team and clients alike, to dream up bold new ideas and think outside the box. Focused on the strategic elements design can bring to communications and marketing, he always thinks of the big picture to create fresh, engaging campaigns. His work is powered by creativity, an appreciation for good design and an intimate understanding of the francophone cultural sector.
Over the years, Christian’s work has been recognized by the Community Builders Award of Excellence in the Arts, Sudbury’s 40 Under Forty award, an Outstanding Mid-Career Artist award at the Mayor’s Celebration of the Arts, and numerous Trille Or awards.
